** Full job description Position Description The Project Manager organizes assigned projects, manages all project related tasks, leads and directs project technical resources, and communicates with key stakeholders to coordinate activities of technical staff, users, and vendors.
The Project Manager is responsible for meeting IS Department Project Management standards, maintaining a high quality of service, leading the production of project deliverables, while delivering assigned projects on schedule and within budget.
Position-Related Responsibilities Prepares the Project Charter whereby the goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, organizational structure, staffing level, team organization, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure and deliverables are identified and defined.
Manages the overall Project and its scheduled activities and ensures that resources are available and channeled to produce the planned deliverables on time and within the approved budget.
Develops and manages Project Budgets which support the cost-effective implementation of IT strategies, tactics and operating plans.
Organizes the Project team into appropriate work groups and works closely with the Business Lead, Technical Lead, and Test Lead to support and guide the entire Project team in their effort to achieve its business goals and produce deliverables within the specified time frames and financial constraints.
Provides coaching and mentoring to project participants and leaders both outside and within the Project Management Office (PMO).
Builds, maintains and improves guidance to project managers.
Builds and maintains an inventory of project management best practices.
(Internal and External) Leads or supports interdisciplinary teams in preparing and developing project related documents.
Conducts stakeholder outreach and communication efforts related to the Project, including conducting Steering Committee meetings, preparing notification letters and other documents and incorporating stakeholder input into the Project’s documents.
Manages and measures Project performance against PMO expectations for Project Team.
Establishes and implements a Project Communication Plan.
Generates and maintains Project Status Reports to keep stakeholders informed on a consistent basis.
Establishes and maintains central project repositories and Web site content for the use of all IS staff and corporate project stakeholders.
Mediates and promotes problem-solving capability and fosters collaboration between Project participants when project issues or problems occur.
Monitors Project Scope and incorporates PMO Change Management process as needed.
Ensures an impact analysis of any change request is completed.
Ensures change requests with a significant impact on the Project are formally brought forward to the Project Team and Steering Committee for resolution.
This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Management Responsibilities Ensure that the Company’s management principles, policies and programs are consistently practiced and continually support the Affirmative Action Plan.
Assume fiduciary responsibility for operating the business and provide recommendations on cost improvement measures.
Ensure that the Performance Management program is administered uniformly and effectively.
Comply with and administer the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement when applicable.
Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, and selection and placement of personnel.
Participates in hiring, termination, promoting, assignment and direction of staff.
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations and standards, company policies, practices and ethical obligations to investigate, evaluate and recommend appropriate resolution to employee complaints.
Promotes and participates in the professional development, personal growth and career planning of staff.
Motivate, recognize and reward, coach, counsel, train; provide feedback to employees during performance reviews.
Participates in Leadership Development programs.
Addresses disciplinary and/or performance issues, according to company policy, and communicates effectively with employees regarding corrective action.
Has input into the adjustment of grievances and administration of discipline.
Plans day-to-day operations, estimates personnel needs and schedules and assigns work.
Evaluate the structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
) IS Project Manager I Minimum Qualifications Associates Degree in Information Systems Management, Business Administration, Technology Management or related discipline.
2 – 5 years of successful project management leadership and implementation experience on projects requiring at least six additional project stakeholders.
Knowledge and experience executing system development life cycle (SDLC) principles and system development methodology (SDM).
Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Project.
Ability to facilitate and conduct effective meetings, briefings and presentations to audiences of at least 15 people.
Ability to communicate with company executives regarding status of assigned projects.
Ability to develop internal and external consensus with people who reflect the full range of diversity in the business objectives of the assigned project.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability and willingness to adapt to dynamic project, organizational, and environmental needs.
Strong demonstration of human relation skills, showing the ability to work with, and maintain, positive relations across individuals, teams, and departments.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Management, Business Administration, Technology Management or related discipline.
2 years of on-the-job accounting or budgeting/cost management responsibilities.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in good standing with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
1 year of utility industry business experience.
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification in good standing with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
IS Project Manager II Minimum Qualifications All minimum qualifications of Project Manager I plus: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Management, Business Administration, Technology Management or related discipline.
5 – 10 years of successful project management leadership and implementation experience on projects requiring at least six additional project stakeholders.
Strong knowledge and extensive experience executing system development life cycle (SDLC) principles and system development methodology (SDM).
Strong knowledge of and practical working experience using Microsoft Project and mainstream Project Portfolio Management (PPM).
Ability to facilitate and conduct effective meetings, briefings and presentations to audiences of at least 30 people.
Strong ability to communicate with company executives regarding status of assigned and related projects.
Demonstrated ability managing multiple projects of various sizes with diverse stakeholders, multiple technical teams, and different technologies.
Ability and willingness to lead teams to adapt to dynamic project, organizational, and environmental needs.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
5 years of on-the-job accounting or budgeting/cost management responsibilities.
1 year of utility industry business experience Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in good standing with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
IS Project Manager III Minimum Qualifications All minimum qualifications of Project Manager II, plus: 10 – 15 years of successful project management leadership and implementation experience on projects requiring at least six additional project stakeholders.
Expert knowledge and extensive experience executing system development life cycle (SDLC) principles and system development methodology (SDM) as demonstrated through a portfolio of projects.
Expert knowledge of and practical working experience using Microsoft Project and mainstream Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools.
Expert ability to facilitate and conduct effective meetings, briefings and presentations to audiences of at least 50 people.
Expert ability to communicate with company executives regarding status of assigned and related projects.
Expert ability to manage highly complex and highly visible programs and projects, requiring considerable resources and high levels of functional integration, with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
10 years of on-the-job accounting or budgeting/cost management responsibilities.
