Position Description OPEN UNTIL FILLED Salary Grade: 11 Pay Range Hiring Range: $52,251 - $62,701 Annually Full Range: $52,251 - $73,151 Annually Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

In this role, you will play a key part in planning, organizing, and coordinating the special event permit process.

Duties/Responsibilities As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.

Manages the day-to-day operations of recreation centers; Assists the Recreation Superintendent with the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of recreation staff; makes recommendations on employee discipline and other human resources issues, evaluating and managing employee performance, discussing and identifying personnel issues and facilitating resolutions, promoting positive morale, ensuring staff is trained appropriately for maximum performance and providing leadership and guidance to recreation center staff Assists with purchasing supplies per procurement rules, monitors budget, submits work orders, schedules and monitors maintenance needs of recreation centers; Assists with the development of the recreation center budgets and supervises the monitoring and administration of recreation funds collection of revenue; Creates purchasing and work orders systems, maintains registration systems, monitors budgets, creates reports and promotional materials, maintains records and communication; Manages the process of recruiting skilled independent contractors for leisure instruction; Manages, coordinates, and determines priorities of workload, monitoring levels of resources, establishing timelines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing and editing reports prepared by staff, and approving completed projects and reports; Provides customer service by responding to information requests, conducting research, providing solutions to problems, and correcting errors; Performs administrative duties by providing budget recommendations, monitoring budgets, preparing reports, correspondence, and other documents, preparing calendars and schedules, processing timecards, writing memos, approving expenditures, ordering, and maintaining records.
Minimum Qualifications 1) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public recreation administration, or a related field as defined by the department head at the time of recruitment, and three years in public recreation program administration, which included two years in a supervisory capacity.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may substitute.
) OR 2) Three years experience with Pima County as a Recreation Program Coordinator, or other related management or supervisor or coordinator level job classification.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application.
Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.
): Minimum three (3) years experience concurrently managing multiple special event applications from initiation through post-event review.
Minimum three (3) years experience managing complex, multi-faceted special event requests that require coordination from different departments and jurisdictions.
Minimum three (3) years experience using automated Special Event permit systems or similar systems such as recreation management, project management, financial management, etc.
Minimum three (3) years experience meeting deadlines, well organized, and detail-oriented.
Selection Procedure: Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications.
All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience.
Candidates meeting the minimum/desired qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications.
The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidates from a referral list provided by Human Resources.
Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application.
Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures.
Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
Special Notice Item: The County requires pre-employment background checks.
Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history.
A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
