The successful candidate will oversee, lead, and mentor the CON Advising Team and play a vital role in maximizing graduate and undergraduate student success by building relationships with advisors, students, faculty, staff, and leadership.
This position reports to the Director, Office of Student and Academic Affairs.

Duties & Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead, mentor, and supervise the Academic Advising professionals and manage the team’s operations.
Manage hiring, professional development, and retention of Academic Advising professionals.
Direct activities, programs, and processes related to academic advising, student success, and non-academic student events.
Participate in projects and professional development to remain current on advising best practices.
Interpret information and provide guidance on academic requirements.
Work collaboratively within the CON to develop creative solutions for complex issues and policies/processes to address new situations.
Advise leadership on General Petitions, Late Change Petitions, and other exceptions.
Track student progression toward degree, retention, and success to ensure the CON graduates a large and diverse nursing population.
Provide confidential advisement and counsel for students.
Provide clear, consistent communication to faculty and students regarding news, policies, and deadlines.
Collaborate with the Admissions Team to implement successful recruitment strategies and activities.
Represent the Academic Advising Team on CON and UArizona committees, including the AAC.
Attend UA sponsored events and activities to promote College of Nursing and its programs.
Build and maintain partnerships with university academic and student service units, including SSRI, OSFA, DOS, SECD, and others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of student development theory, academic advising principles, outreach practices, and student success services.
Comprehensive knowledge of all functions and the broad industry best practices and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of providing academic advising or in teaching/counseling in higher ed.
Proven track record of solving problems demonstrating creativity and sound judgement in complex situations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking with diverse constituents.
High levels of initiative, dependability, flexibility, and motivation.
Ability to build and maintain positive, professional working relationships internally and cross-functionally.
Exceptional organizational skills, focused attention to detail and a high standard of excellence.
Technical competency to effectively use administrative systems, web-based applications, and standardized software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in related field.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with UArizona policies and processes, both graduate and undergraduate.
Competency with UAccess, Trellis and NursingCAS.
