POSITION SUMMARY First review of applications week of February 19, 2024 Expected Hiring Range: $49,303 - $55,466 Starting Salary Depending on Experience and Qualifications Under direction, supervises, monitors, and coordinates personnel, daily operation and maintenance activities of the Town’s Parks & Recreation Department, Recreation division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists with personnel actions such as selection, promotion, discipline, and evaluations.
Answers telephones, emails, questions and inquiries from the public.
Assists in ordering and purchasing supplies for recreational use.
Assists in the maintenance of the recreation web pages.
Assists with Board and Commission meetings and assignments.
Coordinates park/field usage for the Town of Oro Valley.
Maintains event data, records, financial reports and attendance information.
Monitors in-house programs, contract employment programs, field and park usage and related activities and materials.
Plans, organizes, implements, and facilitates recreational camps, sports camps and athletic programs.
Plans, organizes, implements, and facilitates special events and special programs.
Promotes and provides information to the public regarding recreational activities.
Receives payment request forms for contract instructors, and processes payment.
Assists with personnel actions such as selection, promotion, discipline, and evaluations.
Supervises the day-to-day activities including communicating, scheduling work, training, evaluating, and motivating staff.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of activity or event planning practices and techniques.
Knowledge of all sports as it pertains to contract field usage.
Knowledge of management and/or supervision principles and possession of strong leadership skills.
Knowledge of record maintenance.
Knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures.
Skill in organizing and executing activities and events in the Parks & Recreation Department.
Skill in teaching and instructing and entertaining youth, adults and families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A High School diploma or GED.
Two (2) years’ experience in a recreational or youth activity environment.
Two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment and may be performed at various locations.
Must be able to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds and be able to walk long distances.
Regular and reliable attendance; may work more than forty hours in a workweek without additional compensation to perform assigned job duties, including weekends, evenings, early morning hours, and holidays as required.
