*Job Title: * Manager of Guest Experiences *Reports to: * Associate Director of Guest Experiences *FLSA Status: * Non-Exempt *Hours: * Full Time (35-40 hours, 4 day work week) *Salary:* $18.
00/hour plus, health, dental, life and disability insurance, simple IRA *Summary:* The Manager of Guest Experiences is part of the guest experiences leadership team and is responsible for creating a positive and memorable experience for each visitor.
The role of the Manager of Guest Experiences is to work with the Associate Director of Guest Experiences and peer management team to supervise the daily operations of the museum and provide direct supervision to Discovery Guides, Retail Admissions Associates, and museum interns/volunteers.
Duties include the smooth operation of the museum and the implementation of daily activities, tours, birthday parties, and special events.
The Manager must show a demonstrated commitment to the Museum mission and the philosophy of play-based, experiential learning.
The Manager creates a playful environment that facilitates open-ended experiences and allows our visitors to become more engaged in the Museum.
Full availability is required for this position.
*Primary Responsibilities:* * Provide supervision of Discovery Guides, Retail Admissions Associates, and museum interns/volunteers * Opening and closing the Museum daily for visitors, ensuring the facility is clean, exhibits are prepped and functional, and the floor is stocked for our guests.
* Help accurately collect and record visitor statistics * Hire and train Discovery Guides with support from the Associate Director of Guest Experiences * Supervise the floor staff for events, programs, birthday parties, school tours, and facility rentals * Ensure Museum is adequately staffed, and guests have a positive visitor experience * Build a cohesive team and provide staff development through observing, coaching, and demonstrating * Assist in maintaining the gift shop * Maintain adequate exhibit supplies * Respond to all emergency and non-emergency incidents involving guests * Participate in Museum staff meetings * Handle visitor complaints and concerns professionally * Coach direct reports to deliver on customer service goals and objectives, providing ongoing feedback and annual reviews, and implementing corrective action plans as needed * Other duties as assigned *Experience and Preferred Skills:* * 2 years or more successful experience in museum, retail, customer service or hospitality/restaurant field * 2 or more years supervisory experience * Spanish fluency desired * Ability to lead and manage a staff * Experience with point-of-sale systems (Altru preferred) * Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to work well with others in team situations * Demonstrate leadership and the ability to successfully multi-task * Handle fast-paced, highly sensory, and stimulating work environment * Ability to effectively communicate to visitors the educational content and value of Museum exhibits and programs * Ability to simultaneously engage children and adults in an energetic, friendly, positive, and professional manner * Proficient organizational skills * Experience with conflict resolution and customer management * Ability to react positively to a rapidly changing environment and a wide variety of job responsibilities and demands * Comfortable leading interactive presentations and role playing in a group setting * Ability to take direction and work without direct supervision * Enthusiasm for learning and mastering new skills on an ongoing basis *Job Expectations:* * Available weekday, weekend, school vacation, and holiday hours * Lots of walking and/or standing; occasional lifting of light loads * Be extremely reliable and punctual * Uniform/dress code required * Lead by example to instill a positive workplace culture and inclusive environment * All employees MUST be vaccinated, and boosted, for COVID 19 *Reporting Relationships* Managers of Guest Experiences work with peer managers to supervise the Discovery Guide team Discovery Guides report to Managers of Guest Experiences Managers of Guest Experiences report to the Associate Director of Guest Experiences *To Apply:* Please send cover letter and resume to: Michael Bilharz, Associate Director of Guest Experiences michaelb@childrensmuseumtucson.
