Project/Unit Description
The Air National Guard Programs Division (ANDPD) is predominantly focused on delivering combat capability to the Air National Guard through sponsor-focused systems upgrades, testing, and training programs.
ANGPD provides sponsors with programmatic and technological solutions in a variety of areas including program management, system engineering, operations, acquisitions, test & evaluation (T&E), tactics, training, and research.
Job Purpose
The Software Engineer designs, develops, and tests software applications and products.
Additionally, the Software Engineer manages software development teams, provides technical leadership, and establishes software development lifecycle practices and processes.
The Software Engineer is proficient in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, Ruby, Python, Scala, and Groovy.
In this role, the Software Engineer requires extensive knowledge of programming languages, software development, computer operating systems, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevOps, Application Programming Interface (API) development, container development, and distributed systems.
The Software Engineer also applies engineering principles to software creation, manages production releases of software, performs code reviews, merges feature development branches, and analyzes and triages issues.
The necessary skill areas for the Software Engineer include programming and coding, fundamentals of computer science, software design and architecture development, algorithms and data structures, information analysis, software debugging and testing, and working on development teams.
The Software Engineer also works with sponsors to curate requirements, define sprint work items, set priorities for work backlogs, and organize development teams.
Key Responsibilities
Perform software development, debugging, modification, enhancement, and documentation
Design, test, and develop computer software in order to meet program requirements
Develop and maintain kernel and user-level software and scripts
Contribute to research reports, presentations, white papers, and competitive proposals
Create and analyze network protocols
Additional Responsibilities
Plan, provision, execute, analyze, and report on a variety of test programs from bench level to on-aircraft open-air range testing
Develop and use software tools to support formatting and visualizing flight test data to answer system performance and operational measures
Provide subject matter expertise on Electronic Warfare (EW) data analysis, and reporting in support of flight test planning and execution
Support flight test engineers in the development of flight scenarios in order to efficiently and effectively collect data necessary to determine system performance under test and operation
Interpret flight test plans as well as user requirements, and translate testing requirements into a comprehensive data analysis plan
Integrate software capability into Open Systems Architectures in Air Reserve Component (ARC) Aircraft
Support data efforts with expertise to crowd sourced flight test and other data modernization efforts
Required Minimum Qualifications
Experience in the development of Python scripts, MATLAB, or other related mathematical based programming platforms
Experience in the development and publication of technical reports, data packages, and test plans
Familiarity with telemetry, flight test data, and post-test data analysis
Experience in one or more of the following: flight test data analysis, software development, flight test planning, design of experiments, radar, avionics systems
Preferred Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance ( within last 2 years)
Experience in one or more of the following: test and evaluation of aerospace systems, sensor integration, signal processing, EO/IR sensors, RF threat systems
Experience with 4th and 5th generation fighter mission systems and tactical employment considerations
Aircraft flight test control and conduct experience
Electronic Warfare (EW) experience to include a working knowledge of Western Test Ranges,
numerical modeling, statistical computing, and scripting skills/experience
Travel Requirements
10% - 25% travel
