*Movement Fitness Instructor*
*HOURS:* Part-Time (Teach Classes 2-4 times each week.
Each class is 50 minutes.
)
*SCHEDULE:* Tuesday/Thursday Afternoons
*PAY RATE:* Based on experience, starting at $35/class
*SUPERVISOR:* Healthy Aging Program Director
A primary function of this and every other job at the Tucson J is to ensure by whatever rational, ethical and legal means possible that every member, guest and visitor leaves the J feeling just a little better than when they arrived.
Under the supervision of the Healthy Aging Program Director, the Movement Instructor will have knowledge, of older adults and people living with Mild Dementia.
This person will bring enthusiasm for working with a team while bringing an interest in how the Movement classes fit into the bigger picture of our program and the Healthy Aging Department.
This person should have the ability to be creative, have fun, and create a positive environment for others.
Duties include but not limited to:
· Lead movement class formats as part of a larger program for people with Mild Stage Dementia
· Tailor each class to the participants, paying attention to people’s age, fitness levels, and any injuries or health concerns
· Assist participants throughout the class
· Ensure participant safety by monitoring techniques and equipment usage
· Educate a wide range of clients of all ages based on their fitness capabilities
· Follow all health and safety regulations when working with equipment
· Able to work with clients who need special attention due to their health + cognitive challenges
· Foster an inclusive environment for members
Minimum Qualifications:
* Personal Trainer Certification from a Nationally Accredited organization-preferred
* Minimum 2 years as a Fitness Instructor (certification required)-required
* CPR/FIRST Aid/AED within 30 days of hire-required
* Previous experiences working with the older adult age population-preferred
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
* Positive attitude and self-motivated.
* Works well collaboratively in a team environment.
